During the decades of the develpment of cyber-art some specific characteristics can be observed, which have become typical if not sometimes stereotypical for the term "cyber".
There is for example the darkness, on the one hand related to the urban setting, skyscrapers. which don't let the sunshine into the narrow streets between.
On the other hand we can always find rain, dark misty weather, which some see also in relation to a poisenous nuclear fallout and other chemical pollutions.
If there are colours, then they are dominated by teal, violet/pink, neon-orange and -green.
Asian, resp. Chinese or Japanese lettering is a must as well as huge promotion posters with Asian portraits. Asian elements play a role and small Buddhist temples or clock-towers are a contrast to the brutal architecture.
Another main usual element is the hybridity of humans and machines lleading to mixed creatures half bot and half human, sometimes also in the shape of a Manga-figure.

Diese Fotoausstellung auf der var-sim interstellART_ exhibitions zeigt eine Auswahl von Fotos, die in Second Life an einigen mehr oder weniger bekannten Sims mit Cyber-(Punk)Merkmalen aufgenommen wurden.
Im Laufe der jahrzehntelangen Entwicklung der Cyber-Kunst lassen sich einige spezifische Merkmale beobachten, die typisch, wenn nicht gar stereotyp für den Begriff "Cyber" geworden sind.
Da ist zum Beispiel die Dunkelheit, die einerseits mit dem städtischen Umfeld zusammenhängt, mit Wolkenkratzern, die den Sonnenschein nicht in die engen Straßen dazwischen lassen.
Auf der anderen Seite gibt es immer wieder Regen, dunkles, nebliges Wetter, das manche auch im Zusammenhang mit einem giftigen nuklearen Fallout und anderen chemischen Verseuchungen sehen.
Wenn es Farben gibt, dann dominieren Teal, Violett/Pink, Neon-Orange und -Grün.
Asiatische, bzw. chinesische oder japanische Schriftzüge sind ein Muss, ebenso wie riesige Werbeplakate mit asiatischen Porträts. Asiatische Elemente spielen eine Rolle und kleine buddhistische Tempel oder Uhrentürme bilden einen Kontrast zur brutalen Architektur.
Ein weiteres übliches Element ist die Vermischung von Mensch und Maschine, die zu Mischwesen halb Bot und halb Mensch führt, manchmal auch in Form einer Manga-Figur.

Au cours des décennies de développement du cyber-art, on peut observer certaines caractéristiques spécifiques, qui sont devenues typiques, voire parfois stéréotypées, du terme "cyber".
Il y a par exemple l'obscurité, liée d'une part au cadre urbain, aux gratte-ciel qui ne laissent pas passer le soleil dans les rues étroites.
D'autre part, on trouve toujours de la pluie, un temps sombre et brumeux, que certains voient aussi en relation avec les retombées nucléaires toxiques et autres pollutions chimiques.
S'il y a des couleurs, elles sont dominées par la sarcelle, le violet/rose, l'orange et le vert néon.
Les lettres asiatiques, chinoises ou japonaises, sont incontournables, tout comme les grandes affiches promotionnelles avec des portraits asiatiques. Les éléments asiatiques jouent un rôle et les petits temples bouddhistes ou les tours d'horloge contrastent avec l'architecture brutale.
Un autre élément habituel est l'hybridation des humains et des machines, ce qui donne lieu à des créatures mixtes mi-robots mi-humains, parfois sous la forme d'une figure de manga.
